MedTOWN’s Bela Flor Agroforest in Portugal on Open Gardens Festival

Jardins Abertos is a festival that opens the gates of Lisbon’s city gardens to the public since 2017, bringing together professionals working in gardening, landscaping, culture and sustainability, with the support of the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (Lisbon City Council). On the first weekend of September 2021, as part of the activities of the festival, visits, guided tours and activities for the whole family were organized in Bela Flor Agroforest.

MedTOWN’s Bela Flor Agroforest is a pilot urban agroforestry project in Campolide district of Lisbon, coproduced by the community and volunteers, with the support of a range of public and private partners and organisations. Learn more about it here. As part of the celebrations, the festival team created this video about Bela Flor Agroforest for their “Green Perspectives” series showing “a place without insecticides or other chemical products, where an understanding of the soil and ecological succession goes hand in hand with a hope for a more sustainable and regenerative world.”
